Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS)

DLS (also called photocorrelation spectroscopy, PCS, or quasi-elastic light scattering, QELS) is a non-invasive and well established technique for the diffusion property analysis of stable particle dispersions and polymer solutions.  Based on the autocorrelation analysis of scattered laser light,  the determination of the hydrodynamic radius and the size distribution of particles, aggregates and molecules is possible. The objects investigated are typically in the nano- to submicron region,  dispersed or dissolved in a liquid, e.g. proteins, polymers, micelles, carbohydrates, nanoparticles, colloidal dispersions, emulsions, microemulsions. Temperature-dependent procedures and aggregation kinetic experiments are accessible.
The Malvern HPPS-ET allows the analysis  of dispersed objects  between 2 nm to 1 µm in a temperature range of 10 °C - 90 °C.
